Most adults ask us two things: how visible it will be, and how long it will take. Ceramic braces and clear aligners answer the first, and a case of mild to moderate crowding usually finishes in 9 to 18 months. Children are different: we check the bite at around age 7, and in many cases a short early treatment prevents a long one later. Braces also do more than appearance. Teeth that overlap trap food and are hard to clean, which is why crowded mouths get more decay and more gum problems.

From first visit to retainer
Typically 9 to 24 months-
Assessment
Orthodontist examines the bite, takes digital X-rays and photographs, and tells you which appliances will work for your case.

Plan and price
You get the appliance options with prices, the expected duration and the EMI option. Aligner cases include a digital preview of the result.

Fitting
Braces are bonded in one sitting, usually 60 to 90 minutes. Aligners are handed over with wear instructions.

Reviews
Adjustment visits every 4 to 6 weeks for braces, or aligner checks every 8 to 10 weeks. Each visit is short.

Retainers
Braces come off, teeth are polished and a retainer is fitted. Wearing it is what keeps the result; teeth drift back without it.
